Joshua Akers, M.D.

Medical Examiner, Polk County Medical Examiner

Dr. Akers has been with the office of the Polk County Medical Examiner since 2018, and has served as Chief Medical Examiner since February of 2020. He obtained his medical degree from the University of the Caribbean in 2013 and subsequently completed residency in Anatomic and Clinical pathology followed by a fellowship in forensic pathology. His interests include cardiovascular pathology, histopathology and tracking death trends.
