Robert J. Demarest
Robert Demarest Illustrating
Bob Demarest is another beloved figure in the history of the AMI, and one whose art would fit handily into any decade, given his long career. He was a major innovator in the ways we see medicine, and mastered the airbrush medium to give soft, sculptural effects. Always an ambassador for the field, Bob raised the bar for us all. He served as AMI President twice (1967-68 and 1988-89), received the AMI Lifetime Achievement award in 1989, served on may committees, and always generously dispensed advice and encouragement to young illustrators, especially in the area of anatomical accuracy.
