Project Description

The illustrations show the types of home ventilators, invasive and noninvasive connections, as well as the equipment needed for home care of children requiring mechanical ventilation. There is also an illustration of granulomas that might arise from the tracheostomy connection. These are part of a handbook for parents and caregivers of children requiring mechanical ventilation at home. The author wanted to be sure a variety of children were represented (Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, different ethnicities) to represent the variety of patients they treat. It was important to inform the caregivers about the medical needs of their child in a clear manner that explained the anatomy and breathing options so they could properly care for the children.
