Project Description
This illustration uses unique views to give a complete visualization of the steps involved in a vitrectomy with an epriretinal membrane (ERM) peel. The steps include a cross section of the eye demonstrating the vitrectomy and highlighting instrument positioning, the surgeons view from an ophthalmic surgical microscope while injecting a steroid for ERM visualization, and a magnified cross section of the macula and retinal layers showing the effects of the ERM on the macula before and after its removal. The Amsler Grid is also shown to describe the effect the ERM has on a patient’s vision and how vision is restored after the procedure. This illustration is intended for a text book or journal on ophthalmological surgical procedures. The audience ranges from medical students to ophthalmologist.
