Project Description
This 2D animation is a digital participant recruitment tool for the group of researchers in the Drugs in Lactation Analysis Consortium (DLAC) at SickKids Hospital. A comprehensive visual explanation of the research helps eligible participants to learn and anticipate the participation procedures thoroughly, correct any misconceptions that they may have about participating in research studies, and highlight the significance and relevance of DLAC. My challenge was to define my audience’s educational needs. To address this challenge, I understood and empathized with nursing mothers so that I could define important factors that influence their participation decisions. Also, the use of friendly and storybook-like visual styles helps alleviate breastfeeding mothers’ general negative impressions of participating in drug studies. This project provided experience in: writing in plain language; character design; storyboarding; and creating playful 2D motion graphics by using After Effects.
