Project Description

This poster was created to introduce the peacock mantis shrimp (Odontodactylus scyllarus) and its amazing visual system to a general audience in the public environment, such as aquariums. Mantis shrimp are small marine animals. They have the most complex visual system among all the animals, which allow them to see more types of light. In this poster, a colorful mantis shrimp was featured in the center to quickly grab the audience’s attention. A three quarter view was chosen to show both the structure of the head and the side view of the body so the audience could see how they look like in a natural environment. A blending of 2D and 3D assets were created to demonstrate the details of their complex visual system, such as the the micro-structures of the eye, and how they work.
