Project Description
A series of illustrations for a surgical atlas depicting the externalization and devascularization of the right colon during a laparoscopic-assisted hemicolectomy procedure performed by Dr. Savtaj Brar at Mount Sinai Hospital. This two-page spread is part of a larger series of illustrations that was created for an assignment on surgical illustration. The goals of the assignment were to (a) create a clear visual narrative, that could be used as part of instruction, that accurately describes the temporal, anatomical and procedural aspects of a surgery, and (b) successfully use line rendering techniques. Data about the procedure was collected through surgical observation and a review of existing literature. Each figure was drawn iteratively with the guidance of Prof. Corrin, Professor-emerita Margot Mackay, and Dr. Brar.
