Project Description
This illustration is featured within a review article that discusses the current evidence on the epidemiology, diagnosis, and treatment of chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV). More than 240 million individuals worldwide are infected with HBV, which can lead to cirrhosis, liver failure, and hepatocellular carcinoma if left untreated.
The purpose of the figure is to clearly outline the complex life cycle of HBV within a hepatocyte as well as the target of nucleos(t)ide analogues, the current preferred antiviral treatment.
