Project Description

Intended for use as demonstrative evidence in the Canadian courtroom, the primary goal of these medical legal illustrations is to visually communicate and clarify complex medical information based on the plaintiff’s MRIs and radiological reports. Design challenges included: (1)  how to visually explain neuroradiology imaging to a non-medical audience (the judge and jury) and (2) how to clarify  spatial complexity inherent to the medical situation. Our solution to both these design challenges was to contextualized the MRI planes within 3D space to teach neuroanatomy and describe the patient trauma, enabling visual verification of primary evidence, the radiological images, with corresponding labelled illustrations to enhance understanding of this personal injury case.
