Project Description
This series of realistic anatomical models shows the progression of autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease over time. The models were digitally sculpted using scans of kidneys for cyst size, density, and placement, and photographs of polycystic kidneys for reference. The kidneys were also designed to be the average size, volume, and weight per stage. The kidneys were displayed at conferences in the U.S, Canada, and Europe to visually and physically demonstrate the impact of ADPKD to healthcare professionals, prior to the launch of Otsuka’s drug, which would be the first drug treatment to slow kidney function decline in adults at risk of rapidly progressing autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease.
