Project Description
Pneumococcal meningitis is the inflammation of brain and spinal cord membranes caused by Streptococcus pneumoniae bacteria. This illustration aims to guide the audience through the pathological changes that take place within the subarachnoid space. While there are many illustrations depicting meningitis, few of them focus on the microscopic actions of cells and surrounding environment. By using a landscape composition for the pathology, this piece intends to immerse the audience and allow them to view the actions of different cells in detail. This piece was created for reproduction in a scientific magazine as a double-page spread.
