Project Description
Medical innovations are typically eagerly adopted, but also treated with skepticism by the public who are concerned about high prices and related benefits. There is also a major concern over the failure to bring cures for important diseases to market. Readers of this book will come to better understand not only the underlying science but also the economics and management of these issues, and gain insight into what to expect from the pharmaceutical and medical device industries and how to judge the value of their products. The economics, management theory, and science itself associated with each investigation are presented in non-technical ways that use explanatory figures of the critical biology to make the central story accessible to readers. Ultimately, the languages of science and business are brought together through various investigative case studies with accompanying illustrations that explain the underlying science.
