Project Description

This poster is intended to increase awareness of the lionfish invasion of the Caribbean, Gulf of Mexico, and east coast of the U.S. and potentially encourage involvement in lionfish eradication measures. In order to show the drastic spread of lionfish populations, a map of the affected area shows recorded sightings in the years 1985, 2005, and 2018.  Regarding eradication measures, this poster specifically references lionfish derbies and features two divers in the background of the poster, one reaching toward the lionfish with a spear tool. The combination of the brightly patterned lionfish and accompanying tropical fish, along with the bold title and map of the invasion, are meant to draw the attention of the viewer and incite him or her to read for more information.
