Project Description

This poster was created with the purpose of educating a lay audience about the toxicity of the foxglove plant [Digitalis purpurea] upon ingestion; as well as to illustrate the origin of medication derived from the plant for patienst diagnosed with certain heart conditions. By using a low vantage point the audience can have a close up view of the flowers of the plant as if they were sitting in a field of foxglove. With a low morning light, the plant is basked in a warm glow, accentuating its bright, yet deadly, colors. By orienting the main model at an angle, it crosses the poster in a way that draws the viewer to the top left, then down to the bottom right, reading the information as they go. The insets start with the specific toxin, moving to its mechanism of action in the heart, and finally its applications to medicine; ultimately, following a micro to macro flow of information.
