Project Description

CRISPR-Cas9 has triggered a revolution in genome editing, and precisely presents major implications for fundamental biology research, medicine, and biotechnology. This illustration is an editorial interpretation of how Streptococcus pyogenes uses CRISPR-Cas9 to destroy the invasive phage DNA, aiming to draw in audience and convey the fascinating molecular story. Created with a union of PDB data (Cas9-sgRNA-dsDNA), EMDB data (bacteriophage), amino acid sequence selection, manual 3D rendering, this dynamic composition highlights the pivotal moment of this bacterial defense mechanism. 2D graphics complement the 3D representation, illustrating the key molecular components and events. Galaxy textured environment is applied with floating phages and streptococcus to provide a visually engaging atmosphere.
