Project Description

The Aortic Valve No Exchange Catheter (AVNEC) is a catheter delivery device that can be used for pressure measurements, angiography and stiff wire placement in the heart, specifically the left ventricle (as depicted). This illustration is to be used for marketing and an executive summary on the how the device works to potential investors. The client’s request was that the ‘sliding’ handle of the device be depicted along with it’s correlative deployment in the heart, revealing a pigtail, inner catheter. This design request complicated the layout due to its long/thin design, a problem the illustrator needed to solve. In the final heart ‘step’, after the device is fully deployed, the ‘outer’catheter (AL1) is positioned in the aorta, while the internal, pigtail catheter is within the left ventricle. Also in the same step, but the device depiction, simplified pressure sensors and a generic reading is added to show that it is capable of making a reading in this position.
